Scattershot Friday

First and most importantly. today os Good Friday, the day when above all others, we remember that we murdered God’s only Son, and that he forgave us for doing it. I’ve written about it, and  I can’t do better, so you can find it here.

This happened yesterday:

I can only speak for myself, but I love intelligent, smart ass women, and that is much of why I love Megyn. An old Jewish, and pretty left wing, friend of mine says this. “Trump is a mensch”. He means he stands up and does what he thinks is right, no matter what. As I was watching that open, my thoughts went back to 2020. You might remember this too. Not a single American, not even one, died in Afghanistan. Now ith Biden, we’re losing cops damned near every week. I’ve had enough.

I was kind of smarting off when I ran that Gretchen Wilson recording of Red Neck Woman. She plays into the same thing, a representative of the people, Wikipedia says this is the definition of Redneck.

Redneck is a derogatory term mainly, but not exclusively, applied to white Americans perceived to be crass and unsophisticated, closely associated with rural whites of the Southern United States.[1][2]

Its meaning possibly stems from the sunburn found on farmers’ necks dating back to the late 19th century.[3] Its modern usage is similar in meaning to

cracker (especially regarding Texas, Georgia, and Florida), hillbilly (especially regarding Appalachia and the Ozarks),[4] and white trash (but without the last term’s suggestions of immorality).

Yeah, bullshit. That crap was written by one of the 15 year old (male or female) girls who edit Wikipediae from their enclave on Manhattan where their mommy hold their hands all day. What it really is someone who works for a living in the real world. Soldier, tailor, tinker, spy, soldier, cop, even real estate mogul. It’s about being in touch with reality, Gretchen is a redneck, so am I, so are most of you, and you know what, so was Abraham Lincoln, even by the more restrictive old definition, where it meant a poor (usually) farmer in the old South. They were usualy what we  call Scots-Irish, more or less what the Brits call Ulster Irish. they started coming in the 1749s, mostly to Pennsylvania, moved into the foothills and then down through the Shenandoah, and spread across the upper South and the southern part off the Old Northwest, two thirds of Indiana was Scots-Irish, and they were most of the Texians as well. It’s where America got its backbone,

But remember this, in the Old South, the Rednecks were more or less free, although a high percentage lived by eating the red clay. In physical terms, the slaves probably had a better life. That’s why when Uncle Billy took his stroll to the sea, he left them alone, they had already paid too much. And that is why we sometimes see blacks understanding them as well as we understand ourselves.

Nothing new abut it either, go back a few years and you’ll find every pub from London to the Wash roaring this one out

Like the first comment says, “In 1942, this song “Deep in the Heart of Texas” was banned by BBC during working hours on the grounds that its infectious melody might cause wartime factory-hands to neglect their tools while they clapped in time with the song :)”.

I haven’t made up my mind about her, I’ll have to watch a few more times but as far as Israel goes…What’s this crap about dropping food to terrorists in a nonexistent famine? Huh Joe?

I’d like to see a poll on what Americans think about doing a bit of urban renewal in Gaza, you know roughly like the 1943-1945 plan in Berlin and Tokyo. I’d bet on 69% yes. I suspect Dershowitz would agree

And remember our crucified and soon to be resurrected Lord this weekend.
